Cast Me Uk - GetWise
"only YOU can choose what path to take"

GetWise

Are you a DaVinci?

YES, then the good news is...

if you're a DaVinci, is that you have what it takes to be incredibly successful - not just moderate success as in, "You're a lawyer," but astronomical success as in "You're a legend."

The bad news is that our society doesn't teach people like us how to play to our strengths. Instead, in school we were probably taught how to sit still, follow directions and compete for grades by conforming to teacher expectations. That is NOT how you succeed

I was taught that only businesses with a deep purpose are worthwhile. And only worthwhile businesses are worth all the time and effort it takes to make them succeed. Remember, over the course of our lifetime the amount of money we can have is limitless, but the amount of time we have in this life is short. Spend your time wisely and you will life a comfortable and happy life.

(SOMEONE OPENED A DOOR FOR ME * I WANT TO DO THE SAME FOR OTHERS)

Getwise works with the community and dedicates its time and effort to assist young people with disabilities that go unrecognised or result in a child that may have been misdiagnosed, it will help children to raise their confidence and self esteem through the development of acting skills which will encourage them to play a more active role within the local community, encouraging inclusion and commitment to common goals.

Theses children are often referred to as having MLD (mild learning difficulties) and through this programme will be encouraged to write their own stories based on personal issues. They will be taught how to develop their story into a film script with a professional Script writing Teacher

Michelle Billington founder of Getwise Community Interest Company will Line Produce and Cast all projects, her most recent credits being The Pool Directed by Actor David Morrissey and The Be All and End All Directed by Bruce Webb, starring Eugene Byrne, Josh Bolt, Connor McIntyre with Liza Tarbuck and Neve McIntosh, to view Michelle’s full CV please click here (link to my bio page)

The idea is to provide a place for children who never get the chance of being part of a drama workshop and a chance to get into TV and Film. From my personal experience i will provide workshops in TV & Film and work towards producing short films based around personal issues with children aged 13-19. Also working with the children will be Michelle King e2e Assessment Officer, Michelle will assess the children on a range of issues in life and let them have their say based around real life experiences that they have gone through and also assess them on their strengths and weaknesses to see what support they need to gain employment & training

The first short film produced by Getwise will show the signs of one of the most common MLD (mild learning difficulties) in the UK & Worldwide DYSLEXIA the eye of the camera will show the signs of some one who is suffering from dyslexia that are not noticed in the early years of learning

The outcome of our projects will be:

The film will be taken to schools and community groups and used as part of a programme of raising awareness of important unrecognised & misdiagnosed disabilities in young children. The young people involved with the project will be actively involved in this activity and they will have the opportunity to discuss their experiences with young people of a similar age

Getwise Community Interest Company will help all children who have personal issues going on in there life, issues which if not seen at a young age will cause a lot of damage to a person’s future. When children are disruptive there are various reasons why this could be happening it could be that they are getting no attention from home, have MLD (Mild Learning Difficulties) such as Glue Ear, Dyslexia, suffering from Mental Abuse, Physical Abuse or simply do not feel loved the list goes on.

If these issues are not addressed at a young age, later on in life their problems could turn into drug abuse, domestic violence, being vulnerable, drinking, running away from home and ending up on the missing person list.

By watching films on real life stories from people who have life skills based around their own personal issues can only help children to understand what problems they will face when growing up and that it is up to them when it comes to choosing what path to take in life, all of the films produced by Getwise will help children to choose the right path to take.

As a child we all watch films and aspire to be someone off the television as a child we relate life to storylines in TV Dramas or Feature Films, so when all of our characters in the films produced by Getwise come good and achieve there goals in life, so will our children, simply by experiencing some one else’s true story, we will only ever learn from our mistakes and we don’t make our mistakes until we have grown up, so lets share them with our younger generation and try to make the world a better place for them to life, what’s the old saying? If we only new then, what we know now...

The themes I have mentioned are not just a personal crusade - they now have recognition in the planning for the structure of formal secondary education in this country. The diplomas currently being introduced to sit alongside traditional A levels, including Creative and Media will be accessible by all children post Key Stage 3 in secondary education.

So by developing an interest in skills and disciplines which Get Wise will promote, children will no longer be opting out of formal qualifications, they will be opting in. Whilst Get Wise will clearly not be part of the official education system, it will help by providing children with a taste of the media world. We hope this will stimulate an interest which leads them to take a diploma and so keeps them in full time education. Additionally one of the major constraints on the delivery of diplomas is likely to be the lack of availability of work placements. There is scope for Get Wise to offer this which should provide additional income enabling us to become sustainable in the long term.
